About the Atlantic Puffin
The puffin has a penguin-like black and white suit with a colorful bill that changes color with the seasons. The bill is gray in winter and when spring arrives it gets its iconic orange hue. The puffin is about 25 cm tall and weighs about 0.5 kg. They spend most of their life at sea and only come ashore to breed. When hunting they dive underwater to a depth of 60 meters, catching herring and sand eel with their bill.
Like other seabirds, they are very long-lived, with an average lifespan of over 30 years. The oldest recorded bird was 41 years old.
