Omschrijving

Natural looking European bee-eater in wood carving

This charming bird statue is designed and handmade in Sweden using eco-friendly materials, such as hand-carved wood and eco-friendly paint. Because the birds are handmade, each piece has delicate variations in detail, giving each individual personality.

About the European Bee-eater

The European bee-eater is a slender, colourful bird that lives in southern and central Europe, Africa and western Asia. Both male and female show off their bright plumage. Their diet consists mainly of insects, especially various species of wasps. The European honeybee is a special delicacy for these winged hunters.
The birds build long tunnels in riverbanks, where they lay 5-8 eggs in early June. Both sexes tend the eggs, which hatch about three weeks later.
