About the red squirrel
The red squirrel is an arboreal rodent that grows to 24-30 cm tall and has a bushy tail that helps it balance. It is an intelligent and resourceful animal, but sometimes forgets where its food – including acorns, nuts, berries, mushrooms or bird eggs – is hidden.
Squirrels live alone, but when it is cold outside they sometimes gather in abandoned bird nests to stay warm. They are mainly found in Europe and Northern Asia.
