Bat house

This Bat House has double vertical chambers with an angled open front and ladder-like grooves through which the Bat can climb into the desired chamber. Designed for multi-species use, the chambers can be accessed for inspection by a licensed bat worker via the hinged roof which is secured with a removable screw. Earlier variant also had a brass catch. It is handcrafted from untreated solid, high quality, sustainable FSC certified timber which provides longevity and excellent insulation. Bats are very sensitive to odours and are deterred by treatments. The decorative finish on the front is water-based only. The design of the bat box means that droppings fall to the ground so cleaning by a licensed bat worker is NOT required. The bat box should be positioned between 2.5m and 5m high on a building or mature tree using the pre-drilled recycled plastic hanger provided. The ideal aspect is that the box receives only part of the sun during the day North, Southwest or Southeast. If it is on an existing feed or escape route, you are more likely to get the occupancy.
