About the Moor Frog The Moor Frog belongs to the true frog family Ranidae. It looks similar to the common frog, but its head is more tapered. Like all frogs it prefers a damp and shady environment with waterways between ponds. It is easy to spot in spring as the male turns blue during the mating season. It is easiest to spot at dusk when it is foraging for insects, spiders and snails. The Moor Frog hibernates buried in the ground but can also hibernate in water.
