Decobird - shoehorn woodpecker

The shoehorn is a realistic representation of the great spotted woodpecker with the tail feathers extended and shaped like a shoehorn. The attached leather strap makes it easy to hang on a hook. There are several versions of the shoehorn from Wildlife Garden. The great spotted woodpecker has a springy flight and distinctive colours making it easy to recognise. They are common in forests and parks but also feed from bird tables. Their presence can be heard by their distinct drumming in spring. Young juveniles have a red forehead, the adult male has a red neck, while the females have no red on their heads making them easy to distinguish.
