About Wrens

The scientific name of the wren, Troglodytes, comes from the ancient Greek and roughly means cave dweller, an inaccurate description of this ground-dwelling bird. This restless little brown bird scampers around in bushes and disappears into holes in the undergrowth. They have a long, pointed beak for picking insects from cracks in walls and bark. Their size and color make them inconspicuous, but their loud, trilled song announces their presence, especially at dawn.
