This nest box offers nesting opportunities to the house sparrow, redstart and tree sparrow (tits and pied flycatchers also use this nest box).

Placement

Do not hang the nest box with the entrance hole facing south/west, and make sure the nest box does not hang in the sun all day. No nesting material needs to be added.

When using the nest box for the house sparrow, hang it at a height of at least 3 metres, preferably under a roof edge or overhang.

When using the nest box for the redstart, tree sparrow or tits and pied flycatcher, hang it at a height of at least 2 metres in a tree.

Optional:
The nest box can also be attached to a tree without a nail or screw by means of a Velcro. To do this, turn the suspension bracket on the back 180 degrees.

Maintenance

You can clean the nest box once a year when the young have flown out. To do this, turn the two screw hooks on the front 180 degrees. The front of the nest box can then be removed. If a second brood follows, you can clean the nest box again in late autumn when there has been (night) frost. We also recommend checking the soundness of the suspension annually.
