Bat box Beaumaris

There are several bat species that can use this bat box, this depends on the species that occur locally and where the bat box is hung. This box is suitable as a summer and/or mating residence. In mild winters, the box can also serve as a shelter.

This box is made of the sustainable material wood concrete. This is a natural material where no chemical additives (or fumes) are used. Wood concrete also has the advantage that the internal temperature remains more stable. Due to a rougher surface it gives the bats a good grip. The bat box is finished with a black wall paint.

Placement

The bat box can be placed on a tree or on a facade. Preferably choose a sunny spot but do not place the box under or in artificial light. Avoid direct rain. To hang the bat box, you must remove the front of the box. You can do this by unscrewing the Allen bolt. Two holes are pre-drilled in the back wall, with the supplied rings and screws you can attach the box. Do NOT tighten the screws too much, just tight is enough. Preferably hang several boxes together. When placing in bunkers, cellars, attics and stables, place the boxes as high as possible against the facade or poles. In high spaces in stables or attics, place the boxes at a height of at least 3 meters.

Maintenance

The bat boxes should be cleaned once a year in the winter. Preferably during a frost period, first check whether the boxes are not occupied. With a special brush with a long handle, all spider webs and other dirt (such as droppings) in the box can be removed. The soundness of the nest box and the suspension should also be checked annually.
